Clinical Social Worker

Ms. Kelly is one of the co-founders of Heritage which opened in May 2001. Formerly Director of Social Work at The Menninger Clinic, Ms. Kelly also served as a Staff Social Worker for over 14 years at Menninger's Partial Hospital Service and its Adult Out-Patient Service. She taught group psychotherapy at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry & Mental Health Sciences, and provided supervision to trainees in family, individual and group therapy. Ms. Kelly was also a clinical social worker on the multidisciplinary diagnostic teams at Menninger.
Ms. Kelly's collegial work in Trauma Psychoeducation for patients and their partners, which focuses on the impact of childhood trauma on the adult self and current relationships, is one of her clinical interests. She assists her patients in achieving an adult perspective of their trauma and finding new meaning for life experiences, using individual, or couples therapy, as well as DBT and EMDR as treatment modalities.
Ms. Kelly's treatment approach utilizes object relations/system theory to help individuals understand intergenerational relationship patterns in individuals, or couples.
"Healing current relationships by understanding the past provides the hope for future generations," she says. "It is satisfying to watch people begin to make the shifts in understanding who they are and how they got there, and to move into new, healthy patterns for their lives."
