Bette Ferbrache Stockard joined her Menninger colleagues at Heritage in 2006, bringing extensive experience in clinical social work. She has worked with individuals and families in community and military settings, as well as devoting 20 years to providing inpatient and outpatient services at Menninger. Ms. Stockard served as a staff social worker and primary clinician for the Professionals in Crisis program at Menninger, where she provided individual, family and group therapy. She also taught and supervised social work trainees as a faculty member of the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry.
Ms. Stockard works with individuals and couples who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, traumatic experiences, relationship problems and life transitions. She has interest and specialized training in individual treatment and family interaction. She is also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which focuses on developing healthy coping skills for managing intense
Her treatment approach involves helping people understand current dilemmas by recognizing the influence of past experiences and relationships, and using that information to move ahead in a more thoughtful way. “It’s exciting to help people find their own ability to change. I enjoy helping people expand their understanding of and compassion toward themselves. People often learn they have more options than they realized.”
